But something happened to me yesterday.
It gave me a fright,
And then a slight smile.
Now I feel American (almost) all the way.

- What happened to me could have had financial consequences, but it didn't
- It happened at night, Esther was with me, but not Jonas.
You got pulled over... were you speeding? Perhaps a rolling stop?

You got up late at night and went to the bathroom. You had to bring Esther in the dark since she was crying and needed comforting. You didn´t turn on the light so you didn´t see that it was something that fell and made that cracking noise. Instead you thought you cracked the toilet. Which of course didn´t happen since you are not the size of the average american!
Ok, here's my guess...
You spoke out the recipe for green bean casserole while sleeping at night. You then woke up and tried to take a sip of water but spilled it on your cell phone while Esther watched.
American: Green bean casserole
Financial consequence: New cell phone - not needed b/c you managed to blow dry it back to function
My prize: A phone call from you with Esther sounds in the background!
