David writes in a Psalm that... "the voice of God makes the cedars of Lebanon skip like calves". Well the thunder certainly shook our house on Saturday and we have the damage report to prove it...
Most of our blog readers know about our recent sewer repair which by the way went well and is complete now. Unfortunately, as a result of Saturday's thunder storm our roof is leaking pretty well. Esther's closet got the full brunt of it, the water poured down all the way down to our back entrance on the main floor.
My to do list never shrinks!!!! The new windows and the new flooring for the upstairs is sitting on our front porch waiting to be installed but they have to wait. The roof and wall repairs certainly CANNOT. I know I will find tonnes of soggy moldy insulation when I tear into the walls tomorrow...
I have ordered a dumpster. It will arrive tomorrow which I will fill with our old shingles and the debris from our walls.
Don't worry I am purchasing a harness that I can wear when repairing our old STEEP roof. It is at least 35 feet to the ridge of our roof (11 meters) - pretty scary even with a harness...
More to follow.

These pictures are from a concrete stair repair job that I did recently.

Turned out pretty nice.
On another note, I am now bonded with the City of Minneapolis to do concrete repair and installation work on sidewalks. So, if you are in Minneapolis and need repairs done or replacement of your sidewalk let me know!

Oh, poooooor you guys!!!!!! I wish I could be there for you. I´d love to be Jonas right hand and help you with the house!!!!!
Let me know if you need something.
And Shiloh.....I am sooo happy for the hot, spicy thing I got from you. Em
OH NO! Although...deep down I suspect Jonas is smiling 'caus he has another project.
You pour concrete beautifully.
Con gratulations Jonas on your contract with the City of Mnpls! Awesome! I think that if you get tired of doing work on your house, you and Shiloh could take Esther out for a walk to do "broken-pavement-spotting". I hope the City pays you well!
Good luck on all the dreadful and fun(?) work ahead of you!

So glad that my very handy hubby can take care of this. It's just one thing after another with an old home, but I'm trying to look on the bright side of things and there are surprisingly many, if I make an effort :-)
Jo - I know "bonded" sounds like the city will pay him handsomely and I wish they did, but unfortunately that's not what it means! It's just an insurance-backed piece of paper saying that he can work on the pavements and sidewalks etc in Mpls (important when he gets a job). Great idea to go pavement-spotting!
