Random Updates

For all of you who keep track, I have not blogged in a long time. Shie is the one who has been good at keeping everyone around the world up to date with the goings on here with the American Sjostrom family.

My thoughts have not been completely blog idle. I have been taking pictures of things I have deemed blog worthy. So, here are some random pictures taken from the last 3 months...

It took me exactly two hours to shovel my way out of the snow! I don't like to shovel. Every winter I get a little closer to getting a gas powered snow blower.

How do you like our neighbor's downspout? Click on the image and you'll see the ice build up. Yikes! A word of advice, if you ever install down spouts on your house this picture illustrates why you would want to put the metal seem to the outside so people can see it and not in toward the house.

The brave Ely hunting and fishing party of 2009. We got very little fish and just a few birds during the weekend. I never got a clear shot on the birds we were hunting. However, the weather was perfect and the company great.

The cabin was completely heated by a wood stove. Pretty rustic. You got to love it!

Chuck is going through his second tackle box the evening before we went out on the lake.

Finally here are a few pictures of the member our family everyone is asking to see.

We love to go to the tropical exhibit of Como Zoo. It is a balming 80 degrees (27 C) with 90% humidity 365 days of the year. We like to frequent it during the cold winter months here. It is nice! The chirping of the many tropical birds flying freely inside is quite astounding. There are tons of interesting fish species, turtles, snakes and even sleuths that mosey around in the trees above. Esther loves the fish tank on the picture below because she can see the great big- and small colorful fish up close.

Esther is spotting a bird

Esther having fun in the bath with her bubbles. She loves bubbles. Who doesn't?

And finally a little clip with Esther. This is Shie's Christmas present from me. I made this buffet in solid oak. I feel really bad about still not having stained and varnished it. It was a fun project though and Esther loves to hide in the cupboards.

Tack för all bilder. Jobbigt med snö. Jag hatar snö, jag hatar kyla. Men det kan vara roligt att skotta, om det inte är så mycket att skotta förståss! :)

Grouse is Orre in Swedish! When J first showed me a picture of an Orre it was on an Orrefors candle holder. I thought he was joking because on the Orrefors item, it looks like a cross between an animal and a bird! This was years and years ago before we were even married and now he is hunting them! Crazy!
