Thoughts from Shie

These Fleeting Moments

Yesterday
She was just a little girl
She ran in the woods
Soaked in the fragrance of Spring

Yesterday
She created beautiful things
Looked up and saw the love of her life
She said, In sickness and in health, I do
Yesterday
She felt the tiny flutter of a heartbeat
Held a baby in her arms
Whispered softly, sang gently

Yesterday
Was filled with love and pain
Laughter and tears
Joy and regrets
Beauty
Yesterday
There was no sickness

Yesterday
Sickness came
She suffered, she mourned
Yesterday
She longed to make things beautiful again
Hold her children, her husband

Yesterday
She hoped for new beginnings
Yesterday
She found rest in her Saviour's arms
And He wiped away her tears

Today
His mercies are new

I have been thinking about time and what that does to us, what it means to us, the perspective it gives and distorts. How it heals and steals. A couple of weeks ago, our family was dealt a huge blow. Marie, my sister-in-law, finally succumbed to a terrible illness. She suffered for many years and we mourned with her. Though distance separated us and I didn't know Marie as well or as long as others in the family, I feel keenly her absence. I wish I could be at the funeral, be with family, share in the heartbreak and love, but reality keeps me far away. My thoughts are with them.

I will miss Marie very much. (pic taken from her blog)

Our prayers are with your family. I didn't even know Marie but looked at her blog every so often. She had an eye for beauty. Blessings to you all as you mourn her loss. Thanks for the post, that is a beautiful poem.
