Harry Potter: I picked up the book Saturday morning and could barely put it down. Jonas and my Mum couldn't compete with the book, although, they tried really, really hard to distract me. Jonas booknapped it from me and read the ending so he could see if it ended well. I think J.K. managed a good, old-fashioned, believable ending with a fascinating storyline that takes the reader through nail-biting, stomach-churning events. In addition to being a good story, the book has great lessons on love, trust and overcoming fear.
I had the job, and then: I was offered a job at another college, which shall, in the event they redeem themselves, remain nameless. It was a good prospect that came out of the blue and I was excited about it - 3/4 time, benefits, with a manageable class load and summers off. Then came the actual offer. Shock and anger ensued. It was less than what I made when I first graduated with a B.A. - 8 years ago. I know that money is not everything, but this offer was insulting. So, I wrote them a firm, curt response and rejected the offer. I haven't heard back from the administration, but the department chair apologized and said he hopes they haven't ruined chances for me ever teaching there. At least I can rest assured that all things work together for good...
Other tidbits:
- It's been so good having my Mum here. We have been feasting on great Indian food and she is excited about Jonas' (relatively new) ability to eat food that is extra spicy.
- I have 3 speech classes this quarter. In one of the classes, I have 26 boys all studying game design. Computer game and video game buffs all and they crack me up. More about them later.
- I recently helped our friend Jen cater and the workers got the biggest tip - $100! I read the other day about a waitress who got a $10,000 tip from a regular customer to help her with college. Now, that's a big tip!
P.S. Soon I will post more pics from our road trip and other events this summer; stay tuned.

Did you tell your mom about my nose bleed when I ate spicy Indian food while we were there... I still laugh about that and my coworkers over here find the story amusing.
No, I haven't yet and just a clarification, Mir nose bleed happened at an Indian restaurant, i.e. my Mom did not cause it ;-)
I'm so sorry about the job. They don't know what they're missing. Can I write and tell them what they need to offer you??? Jerks.
How was the wedding. You must write and tell all about it.
I thought about you. It was such a gorgeous evening.
Love ya,
Nancy

Good progress Jonas! I remember when you guys were dating and Jonas had to eat a bite of banana and drink a gulp of milk after every single bite of Indian food! Ha, ha!
