Weekend Update

Things are (sort of) wrapping up after a long Summer and Fall filled with construction projects. J is putting finishing touches to the electric work, which was mandated by the city. We also desperately needed a new coat of paint on our walls. We have only painted a couple of rooms since we moved in more than 4 years ago. We realize this is an additional expense, but we have lived with patchwork, holey walls for too long, as well as half-done projects here and there because more urgent things always cropped up.

The most stressful was having guests visiting us in the middle of our projects. We wanted things to look good and hated that our visitors had to witness our mess. Mir and Sam have had too many experiences with this! Thanks for being good sports, guys, and living the rough life with no complaints.

Anyway, this weekend we had some friends over for a party - a painting party! I think they thought it was a regular party and were very surprised when we handed them paint trays, brushes and rollers as they walked in... Barbie, Nathanael, little Dom and our old neighbors Meg and John were the unsuspecting victims, but were very gracious and did whatever needed doing. I forgot to take pics when N, B and Dom were over - sorry :-(. The party was successful. We had wonderful workers and J and I are pretty exhausted from this weekend. J has been working long hours so we can have a presentable home for the holidays. Thanksgiving this Thursday begins the holiday season for us. More pics when everything is set up.

Other weekend happenings:


J and Es found a little time this morning to snuggle. Es is not big into snuggling, much to our dismay. She has her moments, but mostly there are too many interesting things to explore! We are now devising ways to get her to snuggle, if only for a few minutes. J got lucky this morning - he used Veggie Tales as bait.

We ended our busy weekend with a trip to the home store. Here is a little video that documents the sometimes excessive Christmas decorating that goes on here. Enjoy! By the way, Es and I walked up and down that loooooong moving walk 3 times before we opted for the shopping cart!
